MAYA MILENOVIĆ WORKMAN – dance educator, choreographer and writer

After graduating from the London School of Contemporary Dance she moved to America where she started her group Maya Milenović Dancers, with debut production in1983 at the Cooper Union Great Hall Theatre (Live music created by Henry Threadgill and Reggie Workman, narration Jeanne Lee). Her most noted works were produced at New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall, Brooklyn’s BACA, New Jersey’s Count Bessie Theater, Boston’s Art Museum, London, Italy and Slovenia. In 1998 she founded her own program at The Dance Music Laboratory New Jersey, which creates under her artistic guidance. In past years she was influenced by the theory of Multiple Intelligence (Established by psychologist Howard Gardner - Project Zero – Harvard University, Boston). She re-started her collaboration in Slovenia as an educator of dance and choreography in 2000. Maya writes screenplays, and studies at the Graduate Division of Media Studies Program (film, video, TV) at The New School University in NYC.

 

MAJA MILENOVIĆ WORKMAN – plesna pedagoginja, koreografinja in pisateljica

Po zaključeni London School of Contemporary Dance je odšla v Ameriko, kjer je oblikovala svojo plesno skupino (The Maya Milenovic Dancers) in s prvo predstavo novembra 1983 v gledališču Cooper Union Great Hall začela  pot koreografke, režiserke in producentke številnih plesnih predstav v New Yorku, Brooklynu, New Jerseyu, Bostonu, Londonu, Italiji, na Hrvaškem in v Sloveniji. Leta 1998 je v New Yorku ustanovila svojo šolo pod imenom Plesno-glasbeni laboratorij. V preteklih letih je na bostonskem Harvardu študirala z vrhunskim ameriškim psihologom Howardom Gardnerjem teorijo multiple inteligence otrok. Maja je v Sloveniji ponovno začela delovati leta 2000 kot učiteljica plesa in koreografije. Trenutno piše scenarije in dela magisterij iz medijskih študij na New School University v New Yorku.
